The Forest of Alcamo Natural Reserve is an area protected by the Region of Sicily. It was given its status in 1984 and can be found at the top of Mount Bonifato. Towering over Alcamo, the mountain is 825m high and stretches over 199 hectares. It is a site of great naturalistic interest. The forest is on the northern slopes of the mountain and is characterised by two different pine tree species: the Maritime pine and the Aleppo pine. The vegetation on Mount Bonifato is also home to many different bird species, such as the great tit, robin, greenfinch, serin finch and the titmouse.
